Two people have been arrested after they failed to attend court in relation to car crime and possession of a knife.

A 49-year-old man from Breighmet did not appear in court in August after being accused of attempting to enter a car.

Later in the afternoon in Astley Bridge, a 40-year-old woman was arrested for failing to appear in court on suspicion of possessing a knife in public.

Both were taken into police custody and presented to the court.

A spokesman for police said: "Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood team made two arrests yesterday of people who thought turning up at court was optional.

The Bolton News:

"In the morning, officers attended an address in Breightmet and arrested a 49-year-old male for failing to appear at court in August in relation to a charge of vehicle interference.

"He was taken to police custody and will be presented to the court this morning. In the afternoon, officers attended an address in Astley Bridge and arrested a 40-year-old female for failing to appear at court in July in relation to a charge of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

"She was also taken to police custody and will be presented to the court this morning.
