LANCASHIRE captain Stuart Law has urged his side to concentrate on the positives from last week's County Championship win over Sussex as they prepare to tackle Hampshire on Friday.

Australian Law wants them to forget about their exit from the Twenty20 Cup after defeat against Middlesex in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night.

And the perfect way to do that, according to the 39 year-old, is by reflecting on how they dismantled the county champions at Hove.

"We need to get over Tuesday night, turn up at Southampton tomorrow and start thinking about Championship cricket," he said. "If we play anything like we did last weekend, we are going to be tough to beat.

"It was a solid performance at Hove - but we need to keep doing that, and we have to get better.

"It was great to boss the champions around on their own patch, but it counts for nothing if we don't see off Hampshire."

Lancashire will be without Mal Loye for the trip to the Rose Bowl after the batsman went down with a recurrence of his back spasms on the bus journey south on Monday.

Loye was heading back to Manchester yesterday, while the rest of the squad continued their journey to Southampton.

Andrew Flintoff, who took 3-17 and hit 53 off 41 balls on Tuesday, will link up with the squad today after netting with England at Lord's yesterday as they prepare to face South Africa today.

England captain Michael Vaughan said: "He is getting closer to the England team, and we just wanted to get him back involved.

"We know that he has been out for a long time (with ankle and side problems). I remember when I came back, I just wanted to get back in that dressing room.

"Obviously he won't play for us this week, but hopefully he will get another good four-day game under his belt to try and put the other guys under pressure to get into the next team."
