Two schoolboys have been arrested after reports of an attempted car theft in Egerton yesterday evening.

Police officers say there were called to reports of people trying to steal a car on The Hall Coppice on Saturday, October 28.

Two boys, both aged 14, were arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle.

The pair were then taken into police custody for questioning.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Two boys have been arrested following the attempted theft of a car in #Egerton.

“Officers have attended reports of people trying to steal a car on The Hall Coppice.

“Two 14-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle and remain in police custody for questioning.”

Bolton police have launched a crackdown on car crime in Bolton, with recent reports from Greater Manchester Police about people stealing from cars on Temple Road in the Halliwell area.

Neighbourhood Inspector for Bolton North, Lisa Clarke, addressed the issue at a recent Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting in Astley Bridge.

She said tackling car crime was a priority.
