An area of Nelson Square was taped off earlier today after a wheelbarrow was spotted on the roof  of an apartment building.

Firefighters were on the scene and successfully removed the wheelbarrow from the roof.

A town centre visitor initially raised concerns that it could potentially hit someone, especially in the ‘wind’.

He says that he reported it to the council and called for ‘something to be done’.

One person said: “Something needs to be done.

“There is a wheelbarrow on the roof in Nelson Square.

The Bolton News: "In this wind it could fall off the roof and hit someone.

“I have told the council.”

It is not yet known how the wheelbarrow ended up on the roof.

Onlookers gathered round the area to see what happened.

The tape has since been removed, and firefighters have left the scene.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, as well as the council have been approached for more information.

The tape has since been taken down.
