A thriller filmed in Bolton will be released next year.

Ex-Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan stars in the thriller Fool Me Once alongside British actress Joanna Lumley, The Hobbit’s Richard Armitage, and Adeel Akhtar, best known for his role in Murdered By My Father, and Sherwood.

Fool Me Once is based on the Harlan Coben novel and follows Maya Stern trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband, Joe.

But when Maya installs a nanny-cam to keep an eye on her young daughter, she is shocked to see a man she recognises in her house - her dead husband.

The Bolton News: Michelle Keegan in Fool Me Once

Michelle spent time in Bolton where a film crew rolled into the film famous Le Mans Crescent in July this year to film for the show.

It is the latest drama based on a Harlan Coben novel filmed in Bolton.

Executive Producers for Quay Street Productions, Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee said: “Harlan is a master of twists and turns that are impossible to predict, which is what makes adapting his books for television impossible to resist! ‘Fool Me Once’ is no different, we’re incredibly excited to bring the story to life with an all-star cast.”

Danny Brocklehurst:“Following on from our smash hits ‘The Stranger’ and ‘Stay Close,’ ‘Fool Me Once’ does not disappoint.

"Harlan’s books are storytelling genius and it’s great to be entrusted once more in bringing his gripping stories of life.

"As always with our thrillers, expect twist upon twist and an emotional roller-coaster. Plus, the cast is phenomenal – audiences are in for a treat!”

Harlan Coben said: “I’m thrilled and honoured to once again be collaborating with my uber-talented partners Danny, Nicola and Richard.

"‘Fool Me Once’ will be our fourth Netflix series [following ‘Safe,’ ‘The Stranger’ and ‘Stay Close’] together, and man, it never gets old!

"‘Fool Me Once’ is a pulse-pounder -- a shocking story of how secrets and deceit have the power to bring people together while simultaneously tearing them apart."

The hit thriller The Stranger was filmed in and around Bolton, which also starred Armitage.

Le Mans Crescent is no stranger to film crews as it has welcomed the likes of Tommy Shelby for Peaky Blinders, and the cast of It's A Sin, as well as Hollywood A-lister Ewan McGregor for A Gentleman in Moscow.

Netflix posted: “Mystery King Harlan Coben is back on 1 January with crime thriller Fool Me Once starring our faves @michkeegan @adeelakhtar #JoannaLumley @richardcarmitage.”

The eight-part series arrives on Netflix on January 1 after a much-anticipated wait.

Netflix released pictures from the show in the summer.
