The fire service have warned people against attacking firefighters with fireworks.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service shared a video to their Facebook page showing a firefighter being hit with a firework.

In the clip, the firefighter from Manchester Central exits the fire engine and immediately a firework is thrown at him, as he then puts on his helmet and goes back into the engine.

Following the attack, GMFRS said in a statement on Facebook: “All week we’ve been sharing photos of some of our incredible staff to bring the person behind the uniform to life and the dangerous work they do.

“Our firefighters have loved your support, and we know so many of you are shocked that we have to remind people not to attack them.

“But, as this recent clip shows, it’s a real issue.

“A crew from Manchester Central attended a fire recently and as they pulled up fireworks were thrown at them.

“You can see on our engine CCTV footage how close they go off to our staff. It’s #BangOutOfOrder we won’t tolerate it.

“Good people of Greater Manchester, we know you’re all better than this, call this behaviour out, speak to your children about it and support all emergency workers so they can do their vital job free from attack.”

It comes as GMFRS launched their Bang Out Of Order campaign to discourage people from using fireworks to attack firefighters.
