A popular bakery has opened a new shop on Bolton's new food and drink court.

Greenhalgh's Craft Bakery opened on Wigan Road, Deane, this week on Thursday November 2, and it is already proving to be a hit with customers.

The new opening comes just months after the pie and cake shop closed their Daubhill branch to relocate to the new development on land which was part of the former Stag's Head Pub.

The Bolton bakers opened their new shop  just a few months after the discount supermarket Heron Foods welcomed in customers.

Georgie Smart-Stanton, Retail Sales Director at Greenhalghs Craft Bakery, said: “Greenhalgh’s are very proud to have opened our newest store in our heartland of Bolton.

“We have been serving the Bolton and North West community now for over 66 years.

“Over the years our logo and styles of shops may have changed, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to giving our customers the highest of quality of baked goods using the very best of ingredients this nation has to offer.

“It has been lovely speaking to customers this week in our new  store, who have been telling us stories of how they grew up with Greenhalgh’s and now their children get to grow up with Greenhalgh’s too.

“Greenhalgh’s started with my grandparents Allan and Kathleen and now from one generation to the next, myself and my brother and sisters are taking the reins from our father David.

“We are really happy with the fabulous comments and feedback we have received this week from the new store opening and it is our lovely customers we have to thank for this.”

Georgie said they are also excited to soon be opening another bakery in Aspull.

She said: “In the New year we are also excited to be opening another location in Aspull and we hope to have the same success with that store as we have had with this week.”

Established in 1957 by Mr Allan Smart, the company operates out of two manufacturing sites in Lostock and Bolton and has garnered praise for its quality products over its 66 years of trading.

It employs approximately 950 staff and, according to its website, is one of the largest employers in the Bolton area with a total of 59 shops and a wholesale sector.
