Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a shooting and stabbing in Walkden.

The emergency services were called to an address on Norfolk Street at around 6.30pm on Saturday (November 4).

They discovered a 34-year-old man with serious injuries consistent with a shooting and stabbing. He was taken to hospital where he is still recovering from these injuries.

Today (November 8) police said two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident, which was close to the Bolton-Salford border.

They asked for information about the attack and about a Volvo left on Cooper Lane in Blackley, Manchester, which is thought to be connected to the incident.

Detective Inspector Justin Bryant, of GMP Salford, said: "This was a vicious attack but I would like to reassure the community this is an isolated incident. The arrests come off the back of some fantastic work by the detectives here in Salford and we are working hard to piece together all the circumstances.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and who may have information - including footage such as CCTV, dashcam or mobile - to share it on this link."
