A COMMUNITY is fighting to make a busy road safer.
St Stephen and All Martyrs CE Primary School is leading the campaign for changes to be made to Radcliffe Road, Darcy Lever.
A petition with more than 100 signatures has been handed to Bolton Council.
Anita Kobryn, learning mentor at the school, which is on a steep part of Radcliffe Road, said: "Motorists speed coming down the hill, so we want further safety measures.
"The flashing speed sign is in the wrong place at the bottom of the hill. We would like it moved further up.
"Rumble strips would also be good. And we would like barriers on the pavement at our entrance."
A "driver feedback sign" has already been put in place as part of a £104,000 scheme to show the speed of cars breaking the limit for the road in a bid to get drivers to slow down.
But residents say more action is needed.
