CARNIVALS and processions have been a big part of village life in the Bolton area for decades.
Small towns and villages have enjoyed their own carnivals — in the summer months — bringing together many of the local groups and churches.
Often there are parades organised with groups getting together and decorating their own floats and dressing in costume.
There is, usually, a fairground and stalls with everyone enjoying the chance to be entertained and to entertain.
