A Bolton man has been spared jail for driving while disqualified and under the influence of alcohol.

Yadey Riaz-Bibi was behind the wheel of Volkswagen Golf on Bank Street and Spa Road in the town in September this year.

He did so while disqualified and under the influence of alcohol.

He was breathalysed and found to have 52 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The 22-year-old admitted disqualified driving and driving about the drink drive limit at the Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court recently.

The court imposed a sentence of eight weeks suspended for a year.

A custodial sentence was given because Riaz-Bibi had a "flagrant disregard for court orders".

However it was suspended as there is a "realistic prospect of rehabilitation" and he is in employment with a young family.

He was ordered to carry out 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and banned from the roads for three years.
