The transformation of Farnworth town centre has been put sharply into focus by a time-lapse video showing ongoing building work.

For the past few months the new Farnworth Green development has been under construction on King Street, breathing new life into the former market precinct site.

Developers Capital and Centric say the development will create a "vibrant new neighbourhood" by rebooting the traditional market town with 85 apartments and 12 family homes alongside new coffee shops, eateries, stores and green space for locals and visitors.

Farnworth Green will have 20,000 sq/ft of new retail, commercial and communal space for locals and visitors to enjoy.

A spokesman for Capital and Centric said: “We’re also creating a flexible community hub alongside spaces for indie café-bars and local retailers, and a community pavilion which will be available to hire for events.

“Our vision includes a new public square for pop-ups, artisan markets and events, along with linear park linking to Farnworth Central Park, providing a landscaped green hang-out space for residents, locals and visitors to kick back and chill in.”

This week the developer released a time lapse video which shows the transformation of the site over the past few months, with construction well underway on the several new buildings at the site.

The plans were kick-started in in December 2020, when the idea for Farnworth Green was awarded £13m from the government’s future high street fund, Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s brownfield homes fund and Bolton Council.
