A number of weapons including an axe, bow and arrows and knives have been seized after a home in Atherton was raided.

Officer acted on local intelligence gathered intelligence and attended at an address on Chaucer Grove.

While there, they seized an air rifle, bow and arrow, baton,, knuckle dusters, a hand axe and knives.

A man and a woman in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of weapons offences.

They were later de-arrested and will attend a voluntary interviews at a later date.

Police also found a number of cannabis laced sweets which were seized.

Inspector Sam Davies, from Greater Manchester Police's Wigan district, said: “We will always act upon intelligence related to weapons, as we are determined to keep them off our streets. Enquiries are still ongoing into the seized haul, and work is ongoing in relation to the investigation.

Earlier this week weapons were also seized by police in Leigh.

GMP have seized more than 3,000 weapons in the last few years.
