A new landlord of a pub in Little Lever is hoping to bring the community together with a pub crawl.

Kane Lee, 23, from Little Lever, took over The New Inn around a month ago, after being in the pub industry since he was 16.

And after spotting that pubs have not been as busy as usual, following the impact of the cost of living crisis, he decided to organise a pub crawl with other establishments in the area.

He said: "I have just noticed that Christmas is not the same in pubs with the cost of living crisis, which has has a massive affect.

"I spoke to other pubs and said we need to think of something.

"Growing up in Little Lever, every pub used to be packed.

"When I was 18, in December, you couldn't get to the bar, but now everywhere is quiet."

He hopes the event will help put Little Lever on the map, and encourage punters to go to their locals.

Kane added: "A lot of places have entertainment, but not a lot of people travel down for it.

"The New Inn pub is a community pub where people can go and make memories.

"There's a lot of competition within pubs, but that's why it's best working together, rather than apart."

He also says that the prices are reasonable, with a pint of lager at his pub costing £3.40.

One of the main parts of the industry that Kane enjoys is the social aspect, and when looking ahead, Kane says there are a lot of potential events, including a summer festival with other pubs.

Kane added: "When people know there is something happening they are more likely to get involved.

"A lot of people have already contacted me about Christmas parties.

"It is just a chance for people to get to know new people, and enjoy themselves.

"Every venue has something different.

"Little Lever have some amazing food and entertainment about that people might not know about.

"I am just hoping things will change and people's wages go up, and the cost-of-living gets easier, and people can come and support us.

"I wouldn't want to see any more pubs close down."

Kane also says that it provides a good opportunity for the community to meet their local landlord/ladies and staff.
