There are delays of up to 30 minutes on East Lancs Road due to a police incident.

According to Transport for Greater Manchester services are being affected as East Lancs Road at the junction of Newearth Road is currently closed affecting services travelling to Leigh and Atherton.

Inrix, the traffic monitoring website issued this update: “Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on A580 East Lancashire Road Westbound at B5232 Newearth Road. Congestion to the Swinton Interchange.”

Services part of the Bee Network are experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes with operators believing the road to be back to normal at approximately 9pm.

The V1, V2 and V4 routes are currently impacted by the police incident with the Newearth Road opposite Longwall Avenue and Leigh Guided Busway near Newearth Road bus stops impacted.

Services will continue ahead on East Lancs Road and will divert via Mosley Common Road to re-join the guideway at Sale Lane.

Passengers can get off and on at all stops on the diversion route.

A spokesperson for Transport for Greater Manchester said: “Due to a police incident at the East Lancs Road and Newearth Road junction, the V1, V2 and V4 services heading towards Leigh and Atherton only are on diversion.”
