Police have been out and about offering crime prevention advice in Bolton town centre and schools.

Neighbourhood officers with GMP Bolton South were at Bolton Interchange this week speaking to commuters on how they could take steps to keep themselves their property safe.

Officers also visited Mytham Primary School in Little Lever.

A spokesperson from GMP's Bolton South Neighbourhood Team said: "PCSO Tamumo and Jackson held a successful crime prevention stall at Bolton Bus Interchange.

"Offering advice on how to keep people and property safe over the winter months. The town centre can be a busy place over the festive period.

"Don't leave presents and items of value on display in vehicles whilst shopping. Keep safe! Only 11 sleeps left until the big day."

This comes as police are pushing their Darker Nights campaign, which has been brought in to keep people safe as the nights draw in quicker this winter

It tackles burglary, robbery, and vehicle crime as well as anti-social behaviour.

Officers visited Mytham Road Primary School.

They taught pupils about stranger danger and how to keep themselves safe in their community. 

The spokesperson added: "PC Forgham and PCSO Crompton from the Bolton South Neighbourhood Team attended Mytham Road Primary School in Little Lever yesterday.

"Officers advised children on how to keep themselves safe in the community and stranger danger."
