Bricks and debris were strewn over the front yards of the two houses.

Crash damage could be seen on the front end of the one car and there was a scratch down the side of it, another was covered in dirt and a van's window had been smashed.

The resident continued: "They came straight across the main road, and hit the corner of our wall head on.

"It was probably 2am before it was all finished. The recovery truck couldn't take anything away so the police had to stay.

"It's madness, isn't it."

Another resident said: "Given the fact that the fire service and police would certainly have been in attendance (the pelican crossing signal has gone and the other has a bag over it), would it not be too much for the council to arrange safe crossing for the children during the morning/after school, in what is already one of the worst and most dangerous crossings in Bolton anyway."

A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesperson said that there didn't look to have been any serious injuries and that the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU).
