Police have stepped up patrols in known hotspots for vehicle crime while ensuring motorists park responsibly.

Officers have been on the beat in the Deane area and have issued a warning to people parking in bus lanes.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police, Bolton South Neighbourhood team said: “Neighbourhood officers have been targeting vehicle crime by patrolling the hotspot areas of Rumworth.

“Officers have been showing a strong presence in the area whilst also deterring drivers from parking on double yellow lines and in the bus lanes on Deane Road.”

Bolton Council has switched on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at more than a dozen locations across the borough.

Earlier this year Deane Road in the Rumworth area was identified as a crime hotspot.

Officers from the Bolton South team were in the Rumworth area in recent weeks, as part of an ongoing operation to put a stop to vehicle crime and antisocial behaviour.

A senior councillor said the area was one where people could "can't fail" to see crime if they waited around there for an hour.
