Meanwhile, pub The Major, situated on Bolton Street in Ramsbottom, has also received a top rating of five.

The Shoulder Of Mutton in Holcombe Village has been given five stars as well.

The pub reopened under new owners, Andy Hitchen, from Ramsbottom, and Craig Pinion, from Radcliffe, in June this year.

The experienced pair added the site to the list of pubs they already own, including The Duke of William in Ainsworth, The Victoria Hotel in Radcliffe and the Cheetham Arms in Bolton.

The venue’s hygienic food handling has been rated as "very good", cleanliness and condition of facilities and building has been rated "good" and management of food safety has received a "good" rating.

The food hygiene ratings work on a scale from zero to five and will be displayed at the premises and online so customers can make informed choices about where to buy and eat food.

A rating of five means that hygiene standards are very good, four means hygiene standards are good and three means hygiene standards are generally satisfactory.

A rating of two shows that some improvement is necessary, one means that major improvement is necessary and zero means urgent improvement is required.
