Bolton motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a holdup of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week.

Each evening from 8pm to 5am up to February 15, there will be moderate delays of between 10 and 30 minutes on the M61 in both directions between junction four and seven.

This is due to a lane closure for horticulture works involving cutting and planting works.

A further three closures will begin over the next two weeks.

From 8pm January 3 to 6am January 12, there will be slight delays of under 10 minutes on the M61 southbound between junctions three and five.

This is due to a lane closure for communication works.

From 8pm January 8 to 6am January 20, there will be slight delays on the M61 in both directions on junction six, this is due to a lane closure for works on behalf of Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council.

From 9pm January 13 to 5am January 15 there will be slight delays on the M61 northbound between junctions three and four.

This is due to a lane closure for barriers – this is permanent on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
