Primary school pupils have been left 'feeling like rock stars' after their work was put on display in Bolton

Clarendon Primary School's 'Tall Stories in the Town Centre' display is on at Market Place Shopping Centre.

Children took inspiration from beloved fairytales such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast to make artwork and creative writing pieces.

Three classes, two from Year 4 and one from Year 6, have had their work displayed in the window, whilst work from the other children is in the main foyer at the school.

"The three big books framing the work in the window showcase the extensive range of work the children have created based upon Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.

"Beautiful pieces of artwork show the increasing passion for art and DT at school and the developing abilities of all our children.

"The application of a variety of techniques such as watercolour, collage, sketching, pastels and charcoal, multimedia and sculpture show the wealth of strands within our art curriculum."

She added: "I took children from the three classes to see their work in town. They feel like rock stars now that they've seen their work on display.

"Julie Levy, of Bolton Cultural Education Partnership, told us that the foot fall on an average week for the Market Place is approximately 70,000 people.

"Our children can't compute that over the course of the three weeks that their work is on display over 210,000 people will have the opportunity to see their artwork and writing. Wow!"

Headteacher,  Vicky Chatterjee, said: “We are proud to be associated with this initiative to promote Art in schools across Bolton. Clarendon is a Gold Arts Mark School and champions the wider creative arts across our school curriculum.

"The window showcases the fantastic opportunities we offer our children and the quality of the work reflects the enjoyment the children experience."
