An investigation is underway after a man waiting for a bus appeared to have been forced into a vehicle after a “struggle” and driven off.

The incident is believed to have happened at the bus stop on Atherton Road in Hindley earlier this week at around 7.30am on Wednesday, January 17.

Police officers say the man waiting for the bus was dragged across the road before being forced into a dark coloured vehicle.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 7.30am on Wednesday, January 17, a man waiting at the bus stop on Atherton Road in Hindley has been approached by a man from a vehicle which had stopped.

“The man from the vehicle then approached the victim and a struggle ensued.

“The male from the car dragged the victim across the road and then forced him into the vehicle before driving off turning left onto Castle Rise and continuing onto Algernon Street.

“Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with their investigation.

“Officers would like to speak to a man of athletic build, short hair apparently dyed lighter on top, and who was driving a grey or dark coloured vehicle. “

Police have appealed for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to call them on 0161 856 7094, quoting the log number 597 of 17/01/24.

Alternatively, witnesses can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
