A man and three teenage boys were arrested while suspected stolen jewellery was found amid a police crackdown on burglary.

The men were arrested earlier this week on Thursday, January 18 after an investigation into “snap lock burglaries” across Worsley, Boothstown and Ellenbrook dubbed “Operation Breeze.”

Police say a 21-year-old and three 19-year-olds were arrested while officers also found what they believe to be stolen jewellery and “Suron bikes” they believed the men were using for getaways.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Oakes of the Salford Neighbourhood Crime Team said: "The arrests and seizures send a clear message that criminal activities like these will not be tolerated.

"By taking away the tools used by criminals, we disrupt their operations, and we will continue to identify, locate, and bring offenders to justice.

"Operation Breeze is one of many operations across the force, dedicated to keeping our communities safe, we will continue to work with our partners and the community to achieve justice.”

Officers say they believe the men were breaking into homes by snapping the locks on front or rear doors.

Once inside, they would steal vehicle keys and make off with high-value cars from people's driveways, often using Suron bikes for a quick getaway.

Officers say they have seized five of these bikes, while the four men are all in police custody for questioning.

They also say that they are working to reunite the suspected stolen jewellery with its rightful owners.

DS Oakes and his colleagues have asked anyone with any information to call 0161 856 5134, quoting Operation Breeze.
