A magical outdoor experience is heading for Bolton this week for all the family to enjoy.
Smithills Hall and Victoria Square will be transformed into an enchanting forest, in which visitors can enjoy a light show, traditional storytelling, puppet shows and much more as they explore the wonderful world of trees.
TREES is centred around six tree stumps which begin to glow and forests and their canopies being to project on surrounding buildings and tells the story of the role trees play in our lives.
TREES, the latest project by the creative team “Things That Go On Things”, will be at Smithills Hall on Friday, February 16 and Victoria Square on Saturday, February 17.
Both events run from 4pm to 8pm.
Visitors will also hear innovative audio recordings based on the electronic outputs of real trees.
TREES explores what “we learn from what goes on both above and below the ground…to become a more caring society who look after their neighbours and planet”.
The installation comes just a week after Bolton Council announced plans to plant 12,000 new trees in partnership with local volunteers at City of Trees.
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Culture, Cllr Nadeem Ayub, said:“This spectacular installation will be an unforgettable experience for families and visitor of all ages.
“Events like this make the most of our most popular public spaces to create cultural events that are open to all.
“We are committed to making Bolton cleaner and greener, and this art work will remind us all just how important trees are.”
The event is free and no booking is required.
