A suspected drug driver has been arrested after police said he drove while “watching Law & Order on their mobile".

Police said they had stopped the Citroën driver after seeing the car “swerving” in the lanes on Topp Way, Bolton.

Motorway patrol officers say they found the driver had been distracted by apparently watching a popular TV crime drama while still on the road.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The driver of Citroen was stopped on Topp Way Bolton by a motorway patrol.

“The driver had been seen swerving in the lanes.

"Seems they were distracted watching Law & Order on their mobile!

“They then failed a drugs test and were found in possession of cannabis.”

The driver was the arrested at the scene.

No further details have as yet been released by police officers about the driver’s identity.

This comes amid long running concerns about anti-social driving, including people driving without a licence or insurance, across  Bolton and Greater Manchester in recent times.

Police have also dealt with cases of speeding, drink and drug driving and other similar kinds of offences.
