Drivers in and around Bolton will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this month.

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week.

Each evening from 12am to 11.59pm up to April 20, there will be slight delays on the M61 southbound between junctions five and six.

This is due to the hard shoulder being used for drainage.

A further three closures will begin over the next two weeks.

From Thursday, April 18, to April 19 between the hours of 9pm and 5am there will be slight delays on the M61 northbound between junction three and four due to a permanent lane closure for barriers.

From Saturday, April 20 to April 22 between the hours of 9pm and 5am there will be moderate delays on the M61 southbound between junction three and four.

This is due to a lane closures and slip road closures for barrier works, this is permanent on behalf of National Highways.

Finally, from Saturday, April 20 to April 20, between the hours of 10pm and 10am, there will be moderate delays on the M61 at junction three and on the A666 northbound and southbound.

This is due to a carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
