A luxury super car was seized by police this week after appearing to have been driven with no insurance.
The orange and black McLaren was stopped by officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Motorcycle Unit in the early hours of Wednesday April 10.
They say that on checking the car on the police national computer they found that no insurance seemed to be in pace.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “The driver of this McLaren was stopped by GMP Motorcycle Unit earlier this evening.
“Unfortunately for the driver, there was no insurance shown on PNC and the car was seized under section 165.”
The luxury car was seized as part of “Operation Wolverine”, a police initiative which aims to make the roads safer across Greater Manchester.
Last year more than 10,000 illegal vehicles were taken off the roads around the city region as part of the operation.
Officers claim that operations like this have helped to reduce fatal collisions on the roads and motorways by around 20 per cent since 2021.
Anyone with any further information or concerns can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
