A Bolton broadcaster has been named as one of the top ten favourite TV gameshow presenters in the UK, according to a new study.

Vernon Kay is the UK’s ninth favourite TV gameshow presenter according to new research by Spin Genie UK.

By analysing factors such as social media followings, engagement rates and Google searches, the team have revealed the top ten.

And Vernon Kay is the ninth favourite presenter after receiving a popularity score of 5.82.

Vernon’s most popular TV show according to the study is All Star Family Fortunes where he presented for 11 series, and he has a total of 877,000 Instagram followers and 1.1M X followers.

He has an average engagement rate of 1.2 per cent on Instagram and could charge a minimum of £4,600 per post on the platform.

There has also been 1,333,300 Google searches for Vernon Kay.

Whilst Vernon is in ninth place, the UK’s favourite game show presenter is Keith Lemon, who received a popularity score of 7.15/10. He is a character/alter ego played by Leigh Francis and was originally featured in the comedy sketch show Bo’Selecta!

Keith is mostly known for the popular comedy panel game show Celebrity Juice, which ran for 26 series between 2008 and 2022. 

The research also looked into the UK's favourite talent show presenter - and Vernon Kay's wife Tess Daly was named in first place.

With a 6.28 out of ten popularity score, Tess is most well-known for being a co-presenter on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, a position which she has held since the first series in 2004.

Between 2004 and 2010, she hosted the show alongside Bruce Forsyth, before Claudia Winkleman also joined the presenting duties in 2011.

After Bruce’s decision to leave the show after the 2013 series, Tess and Claudia became the only presenters.

Tess has 868,000 followers on Instagram and almost 255,000 followers on X.

She has an average engagement rate of 2 per cent on Instagram and could charge a minimum of £4,600 per post on the platform.

In 2023, there were more than one million searches for Tess’ name on Google.

Research by Spin Genie UK also shows, the highest-earning TV presenter in the UK is Jeremy Clarkson, with an estimated Instagram earnings of almost £65k.

And Ant and Dec take the top spot for the UK’s favourite reality show presenter with a popularity score of 8.77.
