A much-loved Bolton market has been cancelled tomorrow, Saturday, due to predicted hazardous weather conditions.

Bolton Youth Market, which was set to be held on Victoria Square between 10am and 4pm, has been axed for the first time in eight years following a forecast of wind gusts.

But the market will return on Saturday, May 11.

A spokesperson for Bolton Youth Market said: “We regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision, for the first time in eight years, to cancel the youth market on Saturday, April 13, due to predicted wind gusts varying between 21mph to 37mph for most of the day.

“While we recognise this will be disappointing for all concerned, but we must put everyone’s safety first.

“We do hope you can join us at our next planned youth market on Saturday, May 11, hopefully the weather will be kinder.

“It's the first in eight years where the weather has affected one, we're just glad that our young traders fully understand given what has/can happen, with gusts of wind as high as what is predicted.”
