Drivers have been warned to 'approach with caution' after a suspected abandoned vehicle was spotted on St Peter's Way.
The black BMW 1 Series was seen left without a driver on the A666 going southbound, close to the junction at Raikes Lane.
The car is reportedly partially blocking the lanes, meaning vehicles have been forced to drive around it.
Stuart Lever, owner of U Drive Van Hire in Halliwell and former town councillor, said he saw the car and has reported the incident to Greater Manchester Police.
He said: "The car was left about 20m short of the Raikes Lane turning on the Southbound side at around 8.15am this morning.
"I rang the police, it's been left at a funny angle. It's in a very bad spot and I think the police are going to shut the road.
"I think they will shut the road, there were people doing on the grassy verge to get round it.
"The near-side lane was completely blocked, it was in a very dangerous spot."
Mr Lever said he reported the incident to police using 999 and added that due to the car's location at the bend, he almost collided with it.
He added: "It's going to cause major disruption for several hours."
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment.
