For Bolton Wanderers' fans they had been part of the matchday experience for generations.
But when this photo was taken in August 1984, the two former railway bridges on Manchester Road were in the process of being demolished.
Both the bridges were being taken down in the first phase of a plan to create a sports complex at Burnden Park.
The club was aiming to level and reclaim the embankment with part of the site being cleared for car parking before new turnstiles and access gates were created.
