Motorway users have been warned to expect delays after an accident this morning.

The incident is believed to have happened on the M60 clockwise between Junction 15 and Junction 16.

Drivers have been advised that all lanes have been reopened but that they should still expect “queuing traffic” after the incident was moved over to the hard shoulder.

A statement from traffic service Inrix said: “Queueing traffic due to accident, now on the hard shoulder on M60 clockwise from J15 M61 J1, Swinton Interchange, to J16 A666 Manchester Road, Pendlebury.

“Congestion to J12, Eccles Interchange, and also M62 J11, Birchwood.

“All lanes have been re-opened as the accident is now on the hard shoulder.”

As yet no further details about the accident have been reported but no injuries or major damaged has been reported.

Anyone who witnesses any kind of incident on the motorway has been encouraged to call the emergency services as soon as it is safe to do so.

Anyone with any information or concerns can call police on 101 or police or Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service on 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
