Hundreds of properties, including a pub, were left without power today.
At around 2pm around 500 properties in Bradley Fold, the BL2 area, experienced a sudden power cut
That was restored but the power tripped again - this time affecting just under 300 properties
The power has now been restored and the expected time for the issue to be resolved was 9.30pm.
In a statement Electricity North West posted: "This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident on the high voltage cable that provides electricity to your home or business. We didn't know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen.
" With high voltage power cuts, we're often able to get many of the homes involved back on before our estimated time of restoration."
Among the properties affected was the Queens Hotel Pub in Bradley Fold.
The power came back on at the pub at 8pm.
Landlord Sean Hornby said: "It has affected a few estates."
"The power first went off at around 5pm at the pub but in other areas before that, and has just come back on . We managed to stay open and serve bottles, and were not able to use tills so had to write down, but card payments were okay.
"The two bar staff were amazing, worked well under the circumstances, and the customers were really good."
