A woman has been left with "serious injuries" after being struck by a car in Farnworth.
Police and emergency services were called at around 4.30pm on Tuesday after a car struck a female pedestrian on Albert Road.
A cordon was put in place on Albert Road and police are investigating.
No arrests have been reported.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "At around 4.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Albert Road in Farnworth.
"The female pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains.
"Investigations are ongoing."
Eye-witnesses saw the incident and said it happened just outside the Sorento Takeaway.
One person said: "On Albert Road outside Sorento takeaway in Farnworth, a young woman was struck by a car."
Another person said: "It deeply saddens me to hear about the unfortunate incident that occurred.
"The road can indeed be quite dangerous at times."
Albert Road was closed with drivers advised to take alternative routes and to avoid the area.
