Trains are running as normal again between Bolton and Salford Crescent following a "police incident" this evening.
Services were disrupted from around 5pm today after Northern warned passengers of a police incident between Bolton and Salford.
The Bolton News received reports of a large police presence at Farnworth station this evening, where it was said five police cars and an ambulance were in attendance.
Photos from the scene showed a number of police vehicles parked outside the station.
Meanwhile, National Rail used the hashtag #MosesGate in their reporting on the incident.
Both Greater Manchester Police and the British Transport Police have been contacted for further information.
Trains were severely impacted throughout the evening but as of around 8.45pm are running normally on all lines through the area.
A Northern statement said: "Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Salford Crescent and Bolton, all lines are blocked.
"Train services running through these stations will be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or diverted between Deansgate and Preston."
