A Northern train conductor's quick thinking potentially saved a passenger's life.
Naheed Asif, 47, noticed a woman who was not in good health boarding his Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly train in June.
Mr Asif, trained in first aid, immediately informed the driver of the situation.
The train was stopped at Cheadle Hulme and the line was blocked while Asif summoned emergency services.
The woman's condition worsened yet Asif, following the call handler's advice, provided support until the paramedics arrived.
The passenger was then transported to a hospital for treatment.
A relative contacted Northern afterwards, indicating that Asif's immediate intervention may indeed have saved her life.
"When she walked onto the train, I knew something was not right and I needed to check on her.
"It was a gut feeling," said Mr Asif, who works across Greater Manchester.
He added: "I knew she needed medical attention and we had to get the paramedics to her straight away.
"It was a team effort as my driver assisted me while I spoke with control and 999."
Mr Asif is among three Northern conductors recognised for their exceptional customer service in June.
Northern, the employer of more than 1,400 conductors, oversees all its 2,500 daily services to ensure customer safety and ticket validation.
