Fire crews were sent to a Horwich home after a blaze spread through the ground floor.
Three fire engines were called to put out the blaze in a Pennine Road home at around 6.30pm yesterday (Thursday).
Fire crews from Bolton Central and North were called to the scene.
Four firefighters in breathing apparatus contained the fire to the ground floor living room and put it out.
Crews found the fire was caused accidentally while residents were away from the home. Investigations into the cause continue.
Police and ambulance were called and no casualties were reported.
