A free festival which attracted thousands of visitors last year is set to return on a bigger scale than ever next month.
The Festival of Horwich was held for the first time last year and attracted thousands of visitors with a range of stalls and activities.
But organisers say that hope to build on this further still when the festival comes back to Horwich in September.
Horwich Festival 2024 chair Kathryn Grant said: “It’s a build on last year, we had over 7,000 people come last year and we’re hoping for even more this year.”
She added: “It’s the second year running so that’s exiting.
“There’s a few different competitions and everything’s free to attend.
“The aim is to create links in our community and show what we’ve got on the doorstep!”
She said that the event would not have been possible without help from sponsors like J Dickinson and Sons.
Together they and the organisers have managed to make the festival a reality despite a lack of hoped for funding from the National Lottery.
As well as entertaining thousands of people from across Horwich and beyond, last year’s festival managed to raise more than £2,000 for the mayor’s charities.
This year the Horwich Town Council run event will feature live entertainment from local performers aimed at people of all ages.
There will also be inflatable attractions, super-hero activities fairground rides, displays from local groups, competitions and food stalls.
The festival will also feature a dog show, toddler soft play activities, and a find the mayor competition offering an iPad as first prize.

Festival goers will also get the chances to win prizes at a baking competition, which offers a £50 Amazon voucher as first prize for youngsters under 16 and a £100 voucher for over 16s.
There will also be a photo competition offers an A3 framed printout as first prize.
With this year the 80th anniversary of D-Day there will also be a minute’s silence and a gun setting off display from the 69th Field Regiment.
The free to attend event will take place from 11am to 9pm on Sunday September 8 at Horwich RMI on Ramsbottom Road.
