A Bolton sports club honoured a late member by successfully hosting the inaugural Ray McGloin Duathlon at the weekend.
Mr McGloin, who died in August 2022, was a well known face in the community.
The competitive yet friendly event took place at Smithills School on Sunday and saw participation from seasoned athletes, novices, and relay teams.
Triathlon clubs including Burnden Tri, Horwich Tri, Rochdale Tri, Team Deane, Invictus Tri and Tactic Racing were represented, along with unaffiliated athletes.
Mr McGloin's family attended the event along with the mayor and mayoress of Bolton.
His assistant, Dean Ramsden, said: "As a club we honour Ray's memory every day just by keeping doing what we do.
"But we really wanted to honour his memory in a way that we can share with the wider community
"We kept the first one as a club only event, due to the fact that we expected to make mistakes, but we were absolutely thrilled and very proud that the event went so well and as such this year we opened it up to everyone."
A donation from the proceeds will be made to Bolton Hospice.
The club aims to make the Ray McGloin Duathlon an annual event, with plans underway for next year's run.
