A popular Horwich pub will be offering free food today celebrate the launch of its new menu.
The Blackledge Brewery Bar will be serving up mini burgers on slider buns and other taster samples featured on the menu, which will be introduced in full next week.
The idea is to give punters a taste of what to expect, with chicken wings, breadboards, and other small plates also expected.
The pub introduced food back in February and this evening marks the launch of the new menu.
Cameron Froom, general manager, said: “The idea is that we can talk to people to see what works and what they like so that we can make tweaks to the menu.
“All our food is provided by Michael’s Kitchen, and he’s seen what works and what doesn’t.
“The pork belly has gone down an absolute storm with locals since he’s started here.”
Michael's Kitchen was founded by chef, Michael Anderson, and caters for events and bars with a modern take on pub food
Guests can also look forward to a variety of different sandwiches and loaded fries on the new menu, with options ranging from pork, chicken, and veggie.
The bar also serves up a ‘Bolton bhaji’ to go with selected sandwiches or dirty fries, which has been described as a “savoury frita” by Cameron.
Blackedge Brewery operates seven cask lines, ten keg lines and seven cider lines to provide locally brewed beer to customers.
Cameron added: “It’s a brilliant place, the nature of it being a brewery bar means everything is brewed on site.
“We’ve been running since 2009, we’re a community hub in a residential area and have a regular base of customers, but we’re trying to reach out to bring more people in and grow our list of regulars.
“We’re all about the people, no loud music or sports, we want a more traditional feel.”
The Horwich bar will open today as usual from 3om to 11pm, with food being brought out at 5pm.
In the case of poor weather, outdoor covered seating with heaters will be provided.
