For more than 60 years the Raikes Park greyhound stadium had hosted dog racing several nights of the week.
But when this photo was taken in April 1992 it was stock cars which were attracting folk to the track at Great Lever.
The stadium had also at one time hosted speedway meetings.
By 1990 last-ditch efforts were being made to keep the stadium open and stock cars and banger racing events were organised as well as the traditional greyhound meetings. But the last greyhound race was in December 1996 and the stadium subsequently demolished
