Bolton continues to be a premier filming destination, as 2024 was another successful year for the “Hollywood of the North”.

TV crews showed up in the town for a range of productions – including a new series from the creators of Breaking Bad.

Locations like Victoria Square and Le Mans Crescent continue to be popular go to locations for some of the biggest series, leading the town to be term  'Hollywood of the North'.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Culture, Nadeem Ayub, said: “Last year we welcomed some of the biggest names in film and TV, ensuring Bolton was hardly off our screens in 2024.

“This success has continued in 2025, with Harlan Coben's ‘Missing You’ debuting on Netflix on New Year’s Day featuring scenes shot in Le Mans Crescent and Victoria Square.

“Bolton’s sustained popularity as a film location is a direct result of the council’s hard work to build relationships with the industry, go above and beyond to accommodate requests, and promote our stunning architecture and scenery.

“This brings money into the local economy, showcases Bolton to a global audience, and is a key part of our Visitor Economy Strategy as an increasing number of tourists want to see for themselves where these iconic shows have been filmed.”

It follows a secret society which tracks supernatural beings such as vampires, witches and werewolves.

The show stars Elizabeth McGovern, who played Cora Crawley on Downton Abbey.

In October, a mock-up of Tottenham Court Road tube station appeared in the town centre for the show.
