Some Apple TV+ subscribers in the UK can expect to pay more for the service if they pay monthly following a recent price hike.

Those who pay for the streaming service in monthly payments can expect to pay £1 more each month, meaning a total monthly bill of £9.99 (up from £8.99) will allow them to watch their favourite shows.

However, paying for the service for a year will stay priced at £89.

Apple TV+ launched in November 2019 in the UK and the subscription fee is now double what it was back then, reports the BBC.

Apple TV+ increases monthly subscription costs

Apple explained to Newsquest that new customers who sign up to the streaming service will be charged £9.99 per month after a free trial which lasts seven days, however, this isn’t the case for existing customers.

If you already have an Apple TV+ subscription and pay monthly, you can expect your fee to rise by £1 to £9.99 per month 30 days after your next renewal date.

A spokesperson for Apple told Newsquest: “Since its launch, Apple TV+ has expanded its deep library of hundreds of exclusive Apple Originals, with thousands of hours of premium programming across genres and brand new releases weekly — all ad-free.

“Subscribers can explore a rich offering of thrilling dramas, epic sci-fi, feel-good comedies and live sports.”

The subscription price hasn’t increased for Apple TV+ customers in almost two years.

Apple TV+ users across the world can expect price increases for their subscriptions.

Subscribers in the US can expect to see a bigger monthly price increase from $9.99 to $12.99.

Pricing for Apple One will not change.

Streaming services in the UK have seen price increases in the last year

In the last year, the likes of Disney+ and Paramount+ have seen price increases in the UK.

Disney+ increased prices to between £8.99 and £12.99 last October and in November, Paramount+ subscribers saw an increase with prices now being between £4.99 and £10.99.

Disney+ and Paramount+ both offer ad-supported content with their cheapest subscriptions, however, Apple TV+ doesn't offer this.
