Does your child's teacher bring history to life in classrooms?
If so the Inspiring History Teaching Awards, launched by Historic Royal Palaces (HRP), want to hear from you to recognise those who help students connect with the past in meaningful ways.
Supported by the Historical Association, the scheme is open to teachers in Bolton and across the UK at all career stages and in all settings, including primary, secondary, further education, and special educational needs.
A judging panel will select 10 regional and national winners, each receiving £500 for themselves and £500 for their school, along with annual memberships to HRP and the Historical Association.
One overall winner will also receive a lifetime HRP membership.
Lucy Worsley, historian, broadcaster, and HRP ambassador, will lead the judging panel and is encouraging nominations.
Ms Worsley said: "Great history teaching doesn’t just tell students what happened—it helps them think, question and connect with the world around them.
"We’re looking for the inspirational people who do this every day in their classrooms.
"If that’s you – or somebody you know – please send in a nomination.
"HRP’s Inspiring History Teaching Awards will be an important chance to celebrate their hard work, creativity and passion."
The national judging panel includes historians and writers Greg Jenner, Sathnam Sanghera, Dan Jones, Shalina Patel, Michael Riley, and Katie Hunter.

The awards are part of HRP’s wider commitment to reach every school in the UK through educational visits, digital resources, and teacher support.
Nominations are free and can be made by anyone over 18.
Entries close on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
