Two Bolton Wetherspoons are feeling flush after wiping the floor with the competition at this year’s Loo of the Year Awards 2025.
The Spinning Mule in Nelson Square and The Robert Shaw in Market Street, Westhoughton, have both been crowned with the prestigious platinum plus status, proving they really are a cut above the bog-standard.
The annual awards celebrate the very best in British bathroom brilliance, honouring those who go the extra mile to make a visit to the loo a five-star experience.

Cheryll Kean, manager of The Robert Shaw, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the grading.
"Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors."

Judges inspected toilets up and down the country, unannounced, checking cleanliness, décor, maintenance, accessibility, and even hand-drying efficiency.
Each facility is ranked bronze, silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond, with any less-than-sparkling loos going ungraded.

Becky Wall, managing director of the Loo of the Year Awards, said: “The toilets at both pubs have been designed and fitted to a very high standard, they’re clean, comfortable, and well cared for.
"The pubs deserve their awards."
Both pubs are part of the JD Wetherspoon chain, and now they can proudly boast some of the best seats in the house.
