A Bolton dairy farm has been nominated for our Bolton News Coffee Shop of the Year award.

Milk Maids dairy farm and shop at Deardens Farm, Over Hulton, has been nominated for the Coffee Shop of the Year Award for their range of drinks, snacks, and treats.

The parlour and tea shop is currently run by Fiona Partington and her sister, Rebecca Partington, alongside a close-knit team of 10, as well as her parents Anne-Marie and Michael, Patricia and John’s son who was born on the farm.

Much of the menu is based around the Deardens Cows' milk - from lattes and frappes to ice cream and milkshakes.

Milk Maids has 24 flavours of ice cream available at any one time, including a few you'll not find anywhere else, like Battenberg, Orange & white choc, or the new, festive mince pie ice cream.

Bottles of local Ayrshire cows milk are available for purchase.

As we draw towards Christmas, the Milk Maids menu is apt to get a little bit more festive.

This includes not only the mince pie ice cream, but Christmas Yule Logs in Biscoff Cheesecake, White Chocolate & Caramelised Pecan, Pistachio & Amarena Cherry, and After Eight Mint flavours.

Waffles are a year-round staple, served with an ice cream of your choice and a drizzle of chocolate.

One treat only available during the summer months is the 'milk bun' - a scoop of ice cream served in a soft-fluffy bread that uses milk in the dough, again drizzled with chocolate sauce.

Guests can enjoy a wander through the farm shop where they'll find bottles of milk from the herd, eggs, and potatoes that are locally sourced, plus a variety of jams, sauces and crisps.
