A man has been arrested following an incident on Oxford Street in Bolton on Wednesday afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed officers were called to reports of what was described as an aggressive male in the area at approximately 3.47pm.

Following attendance at the scene, a man was arrested on suspicion of making threats and committing a racially aggravated public order offence.

Police enquiries are ongoing and no further details have been released at this stage.

Officers have previously urged people in the town centre to report anti-social behaviour, adding that the Bolton Town Centre neighbourhood team is dedicated to tackling such offences.

The police run a number of operations in the town centre, working with local businesses and keeping visitors safe as they enjoy shopping and leisure activities.
