Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans will see a few schedule changes this week due to ITV1’s World Cup coverage.

The soaps regularly get moved around for football matches, and this week is no different.

The FIFA World Cup has progressed to the knockout stages now and will disrupt soap schedules this week.

Here’s what we know about the changes and which episodes the TV schedule shake-up affects.

TV schedule changes for Emmerdale and Coronation Street this week

Emmerdale and Coronation Street usually air on ITV1 at 8pm and 8.30pm, Monday to Friday, in what is known as the “soaps power hour” (introduced in January 2026).

The hit soaps have been removed from the ITV schedule on Monday, June 29, due to the World Cup.

ITV will instead show the Brazil v Japan match with coverage starting at 5.15pm while kick-off is at 6pm, covering the usual soap slots.

On Tuesday, June 30, both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will air for an hour.

Emmerdale will run from 7.15pm, while Coronation Street will start at 8.15pm.

Wednesday, July 1 will see the return of half-hour episodes, but they will air slightly earlier due to the World Cup match (Belgium v Senegal) coverage starting at 8.15pm.

Emmerdale will air at 7.15pm, with Coronation Street to follow at 7.45pm and kick-off is at 9pm.

On Thursday, July 2, fans can expect the same timings as Wednesday.

Timings are slightly different on Friday, July 3, with Emmerdale on at 7.15pm and Corrie at 8.15pm, for 30 minutes each.

Neither soap will air new episodes over the weekend but fans will get their usual 2.5 hours of soaps this week.

Will Isabel Hodgins be coming back to Emmerdale?

In Emmerdale, Victoria told her brother Robert Sugden that she would be back in the future with her son Harry.

The actress recently revealed her character’s future but said things could change while speaking on her co-star Danny Miller’s podcast with Nigel Clucas called You Don’t Know You’re Born.

She also mentioned how the show had never forced her to make a decision on whether she would be coming back.

She said: “I will need to find a way to manage that. For 20 years, work has been my priority.

“To be honest, I still don’t know when I’m going back.

“In my ideal world, it would be September. And then it’s all systems go.

“[That’s when] it really starts with the juggling and potential mum guilt, and whatever.

“It was very much at my discretion how much [time] I wanted off.”
