Search the Public Notice PortalPlans for a major redevelopment at a Farnworth school have been revised after the council approved changes to the school's boundary fencing.
The local authority has signed off a non-material amendment to an existing planning permission at Green Fold School, allowing the fencing around the Highfield Road school to be repositioned and built to a different specification.
Although the changes are relatively minor, they form part of a wider project that includes a new single-storey extension, improvements to parking and access, and upgraded security measures around the school site.
Planning officers concluded the revised fencing would not be noticeably different from the scheme approved in 2024 and would have no additional impact on neighbouring homes.
In a report supporting the application, officers said the amendments would "not be materially different" from the original plans and would not alter the character or appearance of the development.
The report also found the revised fencing would not disadvantage residents or other interested parties, meaning the changes could be approved without a fresh round of public consultation.
The only amendment to the planning permission is an updated approved drawing showing the new fencing layout and specification.
All other conditions attached to the original consent remain in place.
The latest decision is the newest step in the ongoing redevelopment of Green Fold School.
Previous approvals have included a free-standing glazed canopy in 2025, while permission for the wider extension, parking improvements and new boundary fencing was granted in 2024.
