Colleagues put teamwork into action as they challenged themselves on the fun but quite difficult Pretty Muddy 5K.

The from Ingeus' Bolton centre, along with former colleagues, friends, and family took part in the challenge in Heaton Park.

The event is organised by Cancer Research UK and tasks runners with completing a mud-filled obstacle course to raise funds for cancer research.

The team, calling themselves Ingeus & Friends, raised more than £2,500, five times their original target of £500.

Jayne, who helped organise the group, said: "What started as a wild suggestion quickly gathered momentum. I couldn't believe how many people got behind it.

"Between the Ingeus team, past colleagues, family members and friends, 11 people signed up and, despite injuries, 10 completed the course.

"The camaraderie from everyone taking part was something else.

"We originally set ourselves a fundraising target of £500 and, at the time of writing, we've raised over £2,500.

"That's an amazing achievement.

"It says a lot when every single person said they'd do it again.

"Raising over five times the original target is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the generosity of everyone who donated and supported the team along the way."

One team member said: "It was really liberating – running, getting wet and muddy, laughing with family and friends, all while knowing it was for such a good cause.

"And let's be honest, it was cheaper than a spa!"

Despite warm summer temperatures of 20 to 21C, the team completed the charity run.

The event drew thousands of participants and saw people of all ages climb, crawl, splash, and slide through obstacles.

Supporters lined the route to cheer on the finishers.
